The Master of Arts Program in Bioimaging is designed to train individuals to fill a rapidly growing need for skilled experts in imaging and allied science and technology career paths demanding a broad exposure to imaging modalities. Graduates of this program will qualify for positions in the healthcare and biomedical instrumentation industries, academia, and in a wide variety of private and government research centers. The fulltime program consists of 36-credit hours and provides a broad background in basic and advanced sub-disciplines of imaging and anatomy embodying the latest advances in imaging technologies, neurosciences, and robotics. All courses are conducted at the Boston University Medical Campus and utilize a wide complement of state-of-the-art human and non-human imaging instrumentation.

A substantial portion of the program provides clinical and research experiences as well as professional development under the supervision of the Departments of Radiology, Anatomy & Neurobiology, and Physiology & Biophysics at the Boston University Medical Campus.

Students will divide their time between coursework, hands-on experience with CT, PET, SPECT, 1.5, 3.0 and 11.7 T MRI, US, and TMS.



Program Structure
The required core and elective courses of the Program are conducted at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center.
The degree is awarded by the Graduate Division of Boston University School of Medicine.
Faculty includes prominent members of the Departments of Radiology, Anatomy & Neurobiology and Physiology & Biophysics, as well as outside experts in industry, academia, government, and private imaging centers.


Eligibility for Admission
All applicants for admission are required to:
                     Have a baccalaureate degree in from an accredited university
                     Submit results from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) or comparable examination

Language requirements: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 550 or better is required.
Degree Requirements
Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credit hours of course work. It is anticipated that students will complete the program in one academic year.
